Meddie Kagere celebrates equalizer against AFC Leopards
(Pic CapitalFM.co.ke)
Meddie Kagere’s equalizer against AFC Leopards ensured that
Gor Mahia extended their unbeaten league sequence in the derby to three. It was
also Kagere’s third goal in the league derby between the fierce rivals
and only the third time an individual has scored in three consecutive
league derbies between the two. The other two are Abdul Baraza (1978-79) and
Dan Sserunkuma (2012-2013).
Kagere’s league haul is however still short of the
record (6 goals) held jointly by Dan Sserunkuma and Sammy Onyango “Jogoo” and one behind
Wilberforce Mulamba (4 goals). He is however in the company of some illustrious
names such as Mike Baraza, Peter Dawo, Dan Ogada and John Odie and other
forgotten names such as Laban Otieno and David Asibwa.
The following is a list of the Derby Goal Kings (3 goals and
above - League only)
